Adare Cottage

Description

The original thatched cottages in the beautiful village of Adare, Co. Limerick were built in the 1800s to house the employees of the Dunraven family estate. Irish Dresden handcrafted one of these iconic cottages in fine porcelain. To create the image of the thatched roof Irish Dresden uses their unique art by dipping cotton net lace into porcelain Clay. One of our highly trained artist applies the lace in tiny ruffles to the roof and also decorates the window with fine lace curtain. The material burns away in the 2nd fire eaving its pattern in the porcelain. Artist: Cyril Hartnett
