Grandma

Description

“Grandma”is the grandmother in our Irish Dresden piece “Grandmother’s Birthday”, designed by our artist Hans Schubert in the late 1950s. She is sitting in her armchair decorated in fine 8ct gold lines. Her gown is made of cotton net lace, dipped in porcelain clay. The cotton burns away in one of our kiln fires at 1,290C leaving its pattern in the porcelain lace. Notice the hand painted lavender edge on the lace frills. The roses decorating her dress are handmade from very fine porcelain clay. Each rose petal is hand rolled and then joined together to form a beautiful rose. Our highly skilled artists paint her face, hair and little hat with a golden bow. Hand-painted violets decorate her dress. Before the last fire our trademark MV Irish Dresden is applied underneath the base and her name “Grandma” is handwritten under the trademark. A real work of art to enjoy and an ideal present to give to your Grandmother to treasure.
