Melchior of the 3 wise men is part of Irish Dresden’s Nativity, made of very fine porcelain. Cotton net lace dipped in porcelain clay and fired at 1290 C decorates the sleeves and neck of his elaborate robe. The trinket box carrying the gift is hand painted with liquid bright gold. A hand drawn pattern decorates Melchior’s head dress.Traditionally Melchior is referred to as the King of Persia presenting a gift of gold to Jesus. Irish Dresden”s Nativity is a treasure to have and will be a heirloom for generations.
