Description
The Rose of Tralee International Festival is celebrated among Irish communities all over the world. The festival, held annually in the town of Tralee in Co. Kerry, takes its inspiration from a 19th-century ballad of the same name about a woman called Mary, who because of her beauty was called “The Rose of Tralee”.
Our designer, Hans Schubert designed this figurine in the 1970s. For many years this figurine was presented to the winning Rose of Tralee. She is proudly showing off her bouquet of roses to the public. Her dress is made of cotton net lace dipped in fine porcelain clay, this burns out at a firing temperature of 1,290 degrees celsius leaving its lace pattern in the porcelain. Her dress is decorated with hand made porcelain roses. Artist: Hans Schubert
