Once upon a time there was a poor bamboo cutter who found a little baby girl while cutting bamboo. He took her home to his wife. This little baby was their pride and joy. Anytime the Bamboo cutter would cut bamboo he found gold. this little girl grew up to be the most beautiful woman in the whole world. Many young men wanted to marry her, but her special demands made it impossible for them. The poor bamboo cutter noticed that his beautiful daughter was fascinated by the moon. She would stare at the moon and start crying. Eventually she told the bamboo cutter that she came from the moon and that she wished to go back. The bamboo cutter and his wife were very upset and tried everything to make her stay. They even locked her in the house, but to no avail. The princess went back home to the moon. This special figurine designed by Irish Dresden and entirely handcrafted reminds us of the Japanese Moon Princess.
